Wesley Medical Center

The Wesley Medical Center opened in 2014 on the campus of the Seminario Wesleyano de Venezuela. It was the first Protestant Medical Center in the nation of 30 million people. This Center was the vision of Dr. Maria, Pediatrician, Methodist Pastor and Seminary Graduate. She serves as its Medical Director, overseeing the practice of 57 Medical Workers.

The Medical Center operates under the legal corporation, Una Esperanza (One Hope) Foundation in Barquisimeto, Venezuela. It exists to bring medical, dental, family orientation, counseling and care to hundreds of needy families.

Venezuela’s economic crisis has restricted access to affordable healthcare. People die from non-life-threatening issues related to the scarcity of insulin, antibiotics, pain relievers, and other basic medicines. The Wesley Medical Centers staff of 57 health professionals provides care to a struggling population. It especially focuses at-risk young women and children. The medical care is accompanied by pastoral and spiritual care. Medicines are distributed at no cost to the patients.

Without the Wesley Medical Center thousands would be unable to receive the medical attention they so desperately need. Currently the Medical Center operates 3 Clinics in three cities. We hope to open a fourth Center in 2021.

In order to meet more of needs, the long-term goal of Venezuela Now is to build a 45-bed, full-service hospital.
