The first Methodist Children’s Home in Venezuela began as a dream of a student in the Seminario Wesleyano de Venezuela. One day in class, Pastor Yolanda Caceido received a call from God to build a residential care facility for poor and homeless children. She began to share her vision and partners began to believe with her for this ministry.
The needs of children in Venezuela are great. Major difficulties experienced by children are often the result of teenage pregnancies, extreme poverty, inadequate housing, lack of accecessibility to medical care, hunger and malnutrician, childhood diseases, STD’s, unemployment, sex trade, destruction of traditional families and generational addictions. These problems have massive impact on the lives of the most vulnerable in Venezuela.
Due to the economic crisis in Venezuela, many children are left homeless in the streets with nowhere to go. Pastor Yolanda built a home for children abandoned by their parents.
This breaks the heart of God and broke the heart of Pastor Yolanda. Yet she had no money. Through her faithful perseverance and ten years of construction as materials could be purchased, she built, then opened the Children’s Home.
We not only help the children living within the home, but we also minister to those in the community by spreading God’s Word, distributing clothes and food, teaching hygiene, and offering haircuts.
